概要 Key points:
The goal of this study was to identify the factors associated with self-stigma that affect patients with epilepsy in Japan.

There was no correlation between the strength of self-stigma and knowledge of people with epilepsy, but there was a positive correlation between self-esteem and knowledge.

There was a negative and weak correlation between seizure frequency and self-stigma.

Self-help groups and educational programs provide opportunities to gain knowledge about epilepsy, but our survey's participation rate was 5.8%.
