標題 | The Morally Imperative Lie in Twain's Connecticut Yankee |
執筆形態 | 単著 |
掲載誌名 | The Midwest Quarterly |
著者・共著者 | The lie is a major motif in Mark Twain's novel A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. It is argued here that Twain presents lying as a morally imperative act the protagonist, Hank Morgan, must commit in order to protect himself from harm. It is further argued that Twain asserts a distinction between justifable and unjustifiable falsehood in his nonfiction writings which correlates with the values expressed by Hank Morgan. |
