概要 This research aims to find out the current situation of weaving the traditional Cambodian pictorial ikat silk Pidan (hereafter "Pidan") through surveys in Cambodia and neighboring countries including Thailand and Vietnam. Pidan is a special, elaborately designed pictorial ikat silk for religious architectural decorations.
Comparing such situations of active weaving in North-East Thailand and South Vietnam with the situation in Cambodia, the author could identify some similar points in active silk weaving in North-East Thailand and South Vietnam and several factors contributing to the survival of traditional ikat silk weaving, including Pidan.
