概要 Edward Dorn is a poet who refuses, in the language of his long poem Gunslinger, to be "named." That is, he refuses to be slotted neatly into any of the available critical or academic categories. Likewise, his major poem Gunslinger seems too various to be conveniently "named" by critics and academics. This, the author of this paper suggests, accounts for the paucity of critical and academic attention Gunslinger has received but is also what keeps adventurous readers returning to the poem even fifty years after its initial publication.
