概要 This study investigated the extent to which listeners are influenced by the expressive intentions of musicians with respect to the direction of the bodily movement. The stimuli were short pieces of music composed by four professional musicians, each with one of the following three expressive intentions: to motivate up and down movements of the body (vertical condition), to motivate left and right movements of the body, and to motivate no movement of the body (control condition). Subsequently, 94 participants were asked to listen to the pieces and to rate the degree to which they felt the urge to move their bodies vertically or horizontally. The results suggest that vertical movements of the body are more effectively conveyed by musicians to listeners.
