|Issues often raised when discussing the physical characteristics of female university students in Japan include 1) increasing proportion of thin students, 2) reduced calorie intake, 3) decreased basal metabolic rate, and 4) reduced stamina, grip strength, etc.
Health education from a young age is important for female students enabling them to lead healthy lives for a further 60 years or more following graduation from university. Improvements in daily habits such as appropriate diet, nutrition, and exercise habits from the time they are students will help them to lead live long as well as contribute to avoiding the need for nursing care in the future.
