概要 I reported on the concept of DOHaD and the current status of low birthweight infants in Japan. Furthermore, causes of low birth weight in Japan have been reported to include multiple pregnancies, maternal thinness before pregnancy, low nutrition, suppressed weight gain during pregnancy, and smoking.Women with thin pregnancies tend to have poor weight gain during pregnancy and are more likely to have low birth weight infants.
From my study of 250 pregnant Japanese women, I report on energy and nutrient deficiencies during pregnancy.
