概要 The Spirit Phone: a 300-page novel set in 1899, combining elements of alternate history, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, and horror. Characters include historical figures such as the occultist Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) and the inventors Thomas Edison (1847-1931) and Nikola Tesla (1856-1943). The book's nonfictional basis is Edison's claim, in a 1920 interview, that he was attempting to invent a technological means to communicate with the dead.

Story:
Aleister Crowley, having suffered a psychic attack by a malignant spiritual entity while mountain climbing in Tibet, inexplicably teleports into the Manhattan home of Nikola Tesla. The next morning, the newspapers report Edison's invention of the spirit phone, a device to contact the dead, which he intends to market as a consumer product complete with an advertising campaign. Crowley and Tesla, convinced there is a connection between Edison's invention and the attack in Tibet, investigate the spirit phone's origin and ultimate purpose.
