概要 | In 1920, Thomas Edison (1847-1931) claimed during an interview that he was attempting to invent a device to communicate with the dead. There are no known extant plans or equipment for the so-called "Edison spirit phone," though in the decades since Edison's death, it has become a fixture of speculations about the paranormal. In recent years, there have been books, articles, and online videos claiming that Edison took his spirit phone idea from another inventor, Nikola Tesla (1856-1947), and that the two inventors were in competition to invent such a device. This article demonstrates that assertions of a "Tesla spirit phone" project have no basis in fact, and are part of a larger (and baselss) trend of condemning Edison as having allegedly plagiarized the work of Tesla. |
