概要 There are still many non-electrified areas in Thailand. A lack of energy invites a vicious cycle such as low education continuance rate and difficulties of regional economic development. In such areas, there are many people suffered under poor infrastructure environment. I set up a project to deliver solar LED light to local children so that it could make a little help in improving studies and economic development. This project was promoted by collaboration between Japanese design education and Thai engineering education. This bilateral design collaboration work was achieved by using digital fabrication facility, and it greatly contributed to the communication of both. The material available in Japan and that in Thailand were different, and some other problems occurred, but it was resolved locally, uniquely and successfully at the platform of digital fabrication. I examine how digital fabrication supported problem solving beyond language and distance.
